The Ridge House

The grade dropped sharply from the rear of the home, leaving no usable flat ground and a constant erosion problem after winter rains. The best view on the property sat beyond a tangle of overgrowth no one could reach — visible from inside, but impossible to live in.

We terraced the slope into three levels, each with its own purpose. Engineered retaining walls hold the grade and double as seating. Native grasses and drought-tolerant planting stabilise the edges and need little water. Every material was chosen to weather into the landscape, not stand apart from it.
