We create landscapes that become part of everyday life

Our studio was founded with a simple belief: that a landscape can shape the way we experience a place. What began as a small practice has grown through years of working closely with clients, architects, builders, and craftspeople on projects of different scales.

From the beginning, we have believed in keeping the studio personal and closely involved. Each project is developed through conversation, observation, and time — from the first visit to the site through design, construction, and the moment a garden begins to settle into its surroundings.

Founding Partner

Claire founded Veranda to close the gap between landscape design and how people actually live outdoors. She leads the design direction on every project, and still does the first site visit herself

Daniel Park

Director of Construction

Daniel makes the drawings real. He oversees every build, holding the line between design intent and what the site will allow — and he's the reason the details hold up years later.

Maya Torres

Senior Designer

Maya translates ideas into planting plans and material palettes, balancing structure with the looseness a garden needs to feel alive. She's happiest specifying plants for a difficult site.

James Whitfield

Garden Care Lead

James and his team return season after season — pruning, adjusting, and keeping each garden true to its original design. He knows the planting on every project Veranda has built.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

We design for year ten, not year one

A garden that peaks on planting day is a failure. We choose plants for how they'll mature, leave room for growth, and design structure that improves as it weathers. The gardens we made a decade ago look better now than they did when we left.

We stay after the build

Most studios finish at handover. We return season after season — pruning, adjusting, replacing what didn't take. It keeps the design intact, and it means we live with the consequences of every decision we make.

Every site gets read before it gets drawn

We survey light, soil, drainage, and exposure before proposing anything. It's slower at the start and it's why our planting thrives, our terraces stay level, and our clients aren't surprised by the invoice.

Design and build under one roof

Most gardens lose something between the drawing and the ground. Ours don't, because the same studio does both. No handoff, no interpretation, no contractor guessing at a detail nobody explained.
