Planting Design

Planting is where a garden comes alive — and where the difference between a designed garden and a planted one shows most clearly. We design schemes that hold their structure in winter and their generosity in summer.

Designing for four seasons

A good scheme is layered. Structural planting carries the garden through winter. Perennials and grasses build through summer into autumn. Bulbs mark the turn of spring. We design each layer knowing how the others will behave, so there's always something holding the composition together.

Designing for the site

Every plant we specify suits the light, soil, and climate of your particular garden. Drought-tolerant species where water is scarce. Shade-lovers under the canopy. Coastal-hardy planting where salt wind bites. Plants that belong to a place need less intervention and look more at home.

The long view

We design for how plants will mature, not just how they look on planting day. That means leaving room to grow, planning for succession, and choosing species that improve with age rather than needing constant replacement.
