Drainage Systems

Good drainage protects everything above it. Done right, it's invisible — and it's the reason well-built gardens stay stable through years of weather.

What we install

Surface water is intercepted and directed away from structures and planting. Sub-surface drainage takes water out of areas that would otherwise waterlog. Soakaways, channels, and permeable surfaces handle volume in a way that suits the site rather than dumping it on the neighbours.

Problems drainage prevents

• Waterlogged planting and root rot
• Paving lifted by frost in saturated ground
• Retaining walls under hydrostatic pressure
• Erosion on slopes
• Standing water where you want to walk

Designed with the site, not against it

Where possible we work with natural drainage patterns rather than fighting them — using rain gardens, permeable paving, and planting that copes with periodic wet. It's less engineering, less pipework, and it handles heavy rain better than a system designed to shift water as fast as possible.
